Case Studies

Garden Requirements from the Customer

To create a path around the side of the house, an area for seating and to make a feature out of some old sleepers that the customer had. The customer chooses stone paving rather than decking, to compliment the rustic looking wooden sleepers.

Site Layout/Condition

The area was on a slight slope so we landscaped the site to make a flat area for the paving.

Garden Theme

We decided to use large paving stones to go along with the sleepers to keep the same bold structural feel. We decided to construct the sleepers in a pergola style which would act as a feature above the patio; this was not a problem using our decking skills.

Final Concept

As shown in the photograph we constructed the sleepers over the patio to create a much more attractive area. The paving stones were big bold stones which complimented the sleepers.

All the requirements were met and the sleepers were incorporated into the project in a useful attractive way.

Garden Requirements from the Customer

To provide an area for the young children to play on, away from the traffic. Also, to include an area for sitting and a nice feature with emphasis on low maintenance.

Site Layout/Condition

As can be seen from the photographs the garden presented to us was in a terrible mess so a complete overhaul was necessary. The shape to the garden was rectangular so we introduced some curves to create a softer feel.

Garden Theme

Firstly, with the need for an area for the children we decided that half of the space should be lawn, we chose a strong hard wearing Turf. We opted for decking for the sitting area, sat above ground level to give a feeling of peace and tranquillity. The feature of the garden which of course needed to be low maintenance was a combination of two main elements: gravel and paving. Finally, we needed to landscape some contours in to the garden to get away from the straight borders it possessed.

Final Concept

As you can see the finished product enlisted all the customers’ requirements; Turfing for the children area, decking for the sitting area whilst introducing curves in order to bring a softer feel. The paving provided a practical feel to the design along with a low maintenance gravel area.

Garden Requirements from the Customer

The customer required a new driveway, patio and path, all in one type of material, which incorporated a stone look to provide a nice looking area while remain maintenance free.

They also required an entire garden makeover with a new lawn area, patio and plant beds. Due to a problem with flooding the customer wanted a drainage system be installed in the garden and driveway. This was no problem as our landscaping team have experience with installing drainage systems.

Site Layout/Condition

The garden area was very basic with no features to speak of. The driveway was comprised of concrete with no drainage and the rear garden had an ever recurring problem with flooding.

Garden Theme

We used natural sandstone as imprinted concrete cracks and requires yearly sealing, block paving is too high maintenance even once sealed. Natural sandstone paving provided exactly what the customer wanted - quality, strength, highly attractive and zero maintenance.

The entire garden also got an full makeover with a complex network of field drains installed to resolve the flooding issues. New turf was laid in the lawn area, shrubs were planted and the driveway laid to create a low maintenance garden area.

Final Concept

As you can see the end result was entirely what the customer wanted. They were overwhelmed with the final result. Not only did we succeed in reaching all their demands but we surpassed all expectation. We have since been in touch with the clients since we finished the work and they expressed to me how they are being complimented on the driveway and garden by passers by.
